In the name of God amen: I Ephrom
Sawyer of the county of Tyrrell Farmer being infirm in body but in a
low state of health, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament
in form following. That is to say I give and recommend my soul into the
hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth
to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executors and touching
such worldly Estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with I Will
and bequeath in the following manner and form.
Item - I bequeath unto my son Josiah
Sawyer seventy acres of land which I now live on in the said county
aforesaid one hand mill, one gun two heifers four year old next spring,
and all my Plantation tools, one small dish and two three quart basons
two pewter plates.
Item - I give unto my eldest
daughter Kesiah Sawyer one bed and furniture belonging to it,
half a dozen pewter plates, two pewter basons one three quart, One and
the other a quart bason, One flat iron two chairs two cows and cows
yearlings.
Item - I guve unto my next
eldest daughter Sarah Sawyer one new bed and furniture belonging
to it half a dozen new pewter plates two three pint basons, nine pewter
spoons one flat iron, two chairs, two cows and one heifer yearling.
Item - I give unto Francis
Sawyer my dearly beloved wife ten stocks of bees and their increase
and what household goods that aint mentioned her life time and then at
her decease to be divided between the three small children equally, by
her truly to be possessed with and enjoyed.
I do hereby utterly disallow
revoke and disannul all and every former Testaments and Wills by me in
any ways before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming
this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of November 1789.
