In the name of God amen. I Isaac Owens Sr. of the county of Currituck and state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following.

That is to say first that my executor here (-----) after named shall provide for my body a descent burial suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts whatsoever and to whom so ever owing out of my monies that may first come unto his hands as a (-----) parcel of my estate.

Second Item I leave all my real and personal estate to be sold by my executor on a credit of six months that is to say my land and all my negros together with all my personal property.

Item 3 I give and desire to my beloved wife one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid by my executor at the expiration of six months after my death.

Item 4 I give and desire to my oldest son Charles Owens one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid by my executor at the expiration of six months after my death.

Item 5 I give and bequeath unto my son Ashley Owens one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid to him by my executor at the expiration of six months after my death.

Item 6 I give and desire to my son Samuel Owens one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid to him by my executor at the expiration of six moths after my death.

Item 7 I give and desire to my son Shepard Owens one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid to him by my executor at the expiration of six months after my death.

Item 7 I give and desire to my son Gilbert Owens one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid to him by my executor.

Item 8 I give unto my son James Owens Jr. one hundred and fifty dollars to be paid by my executor.

Item 9 I give and desire to my son Warren Owens one hundred and fifty dollars.

Item 10 I give and desire to my son Norris Owens one hundred and fifty dollars.

Item 11 My will and desire is that all the residues of my estate if any after taking out the desires and bequeath above mentioned shall be equally divided and paid over to my said wife and all of my children in equal proportions. Share and share alike to this and each and every one of theirs to have and to hold forever.

Item 12 And I furthermore leave to be paid to my wife by my executor two hundred dollars for one year provisions for herself and family and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusted friend Thomas Griggs my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me hereof one made (-----) (-----) of where of I the said Isaac Owens Sr. do here unto set my hand and seal this 8 day of April 1849.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Isaac Owens Sr. to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence do subscribe our names as witnesses there to.
