Zachariah Owens to David Cooper
February 19, 1773

North Carolina SS - To all to whom these presents shall come greeting,
Know ye that I Zachariah Owens of Tyrrell County for and in
consideration of the sum of twenty pounds current money of North
Carolina to me in hand paid by David Cooper of the county and
province aforesaid have given granted bargained and sold and by these
present do fully freely clearly and absolutely give grant bargain sell
alien enfeoff release convey confirm assign transfer and set over unto
him the said David Cooper his heirs and assigns forever a tract
or parcel of land containing by estimation six hundred and forty acres
lying and being in the county aforesaid on the west side of Alligator
River. Beginning at a Gum on the head of Frying Pan running some 160
poles to a pine thence NW 15° S 400 poles thence 320 poles from thence
back to the first gum. Reference thereunto being had will more full
appear to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel land with all
and singular the rights privileges commodities hereditaments
appurtenances and appendants thereunto belonging or in any wise
appertaing unto him the said David Cooper his heirs and assigns
forever in as full and ample manner. I sell my right and title to him
whatsoever the conditions and premises of Lord Granville grant only
excepted unto him the said David Cooper his heirs and assigns
forever further I the said Zachariah Owens do for myself my heirs
executors administrators and assigns forever covenant promise and agree
to and with the said David Cooper his heirs and assigns that the
said bargained premises and every part thereof is free and clear from me
and mine forever, claim and demand of me the said Zachariah Owens
my heirs executors administrators or assigns. In witness whereof I the
said Zachariah Owens have hereunto set my hand and seal the 19th
day of February anno Domini 1773. Signed sealed and delivered in the

The within Deed from Zachariah Owens to David Cooper for
six hundred and forty acres of land was proved in open court by the oath
of Thomas Owens and ordered to be registered.
