To all who are now known yea that I the said Nicholas Spencer ESQ
present ....... of the almighty give and grant unto William
Owens four hundred thirty & four acres of land lying at the head
of Julyans Creek on west side of Southern Branch of Elizabeth River in
the community of Lower Norfolk. Beginning at a point starting in a
pocosin Nash and Taylor corner & running west into the
pocosin one hundred & twenty poles, Thence North four hundred forty
four poles, Thence again from the said ........, and running North on
said land of Nash & Taylor two hundred and eighty
poles to a light wood stump; Thence North east on line said Nash
& Taylor land Ninety poles to a pine, Thence East South East
forty four poles to a point joining to the land he bought of Theodore
Taylor, Thence ....... North with three quarter northerly three
hundred & eight poles to and of the first north line of four hundred
forty four poles being three hundred forty four acres
&.............. the remains is a ..... of land on North side of
Julans Creek sold by Richard Taylor to the said Theodore
Taylor and from him to said William Owens as by good of sale
may appear and is part of a ... land granted Thomas Nash & Richard
Taylor ...... the sixth of November 1665. The said three hundred
sixty & four acres being due by and for transportation of eight
persons into this colony whos names are ........ mentioned on this
pattent. To have & to hold & to ....... & .......&
paying as provided & ..... the Twentieth of November Sixteen
Hundred Eight & Three.
